Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is upon us. For some of us, Valentine’s means buying or making heartfelt gifts for those we love. For others, it means spending time together. The more cynical might see Valentine’s as a marketing ploy to encourage people to spend money. The more optimistic might take a chance on a new date, hoping to find their perfect match. Finally, there are those who choose to ignore Valentine’s all together, or even have a big anti-Valentine’s night (prank calls to exes anyone?).
Whatever your preferred Valentine’s action is, consider something different this year. What if you could give a meaningful and priceless gift to someone who will be truly grateful and avoid all the marketing, movies, and consumerism on Valentine’s day? You can! What’s more, you can do all this without spending a penny – and in less time than it takes to make up an excuse not to see Fifty Shades of Grey. How? Register yourself as an organ, eye and tissue donor. Every name on a donor registry brings hope to someone truly waiting for a perfect match. Not to mention, they bring hope to the loved ones surrounding those patients in critical need of a donor.
Here at SAVE JON, we understand how important registered organ, eye and tissue donors are. We are fighting against Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), a rare autoimmune disease that attacks the bile ducts and liver. Currently, the only treatment for this devastating illness is a liver transplant. We are fighting for a real PSC patient, Jon, as well as all of his fellow PSC sufferers. To us, anyone on a donor registry is supporting our cause. They’ve got Jon’s back. They are fighting with us. In fact, registered donors are supporting anyone in need of a transplant. To those donors we, and countless others, are eternally grateful.
Valentine’s Day is also National Donor Day. So, on this holiday, please consider becoming a registered donor, too.
